I’m excited about playing a couple of shows in Portland next month. Sharing the nigh on July 2 with a funky Portland band called raised by tv at Mississippi Pizza & playing solo at In Other Words, a feminist bookstore, on July 3. It’s funny in the “old days” (perhaps early days is more accurate) I would tour with my band for a week or two at a time. I always found it so exhausting, being on the road, sleeping on floors or in dingy hotels, scrounging for half-decent food & esp. navigating challenging interpersonal relationships. I thought then that this was the way you do it, the only way to be a musician. But, now my now life is totally different…I work full-time and tour in little bursts here and there. I much prefer the high energy of the short jaunts.
