About the song

This song is about taking the tiniest of actions and turning them into the urgent optimism that is oh so needed to heal ourselves, our society, this planet we call home. My last album, ‘The Song I’ll Write for My Whole Life’ (SongWMWL) was very much a meditation on what we’re losing in the climate emergency and a fear of the future. There was some hope in the 10 songs I wrote for that album and yet heading into the writing and recording of my next album, I’d been looking for a breakthrough and this is it. I feel like I’ve found a way to talk about my new songs and the different feel they have to them thematically and rhythmically. These new songs are more celebratory and defiantly hopeful, or shall I say, urgently optimistic.

Two of my new songs, ‘Microdoses’ and ‘Non-Fungible Love’, fall into the sequel territory of my last album (SongWMWL) and delve into my call for urgent optimism while continuing the expression of profound wonder and love for this place we call home that flowed through my last album. I’m just more focused this time round on how to make it right rather than what we’ve done wrong.
