Slow blogging to slow cooking

Barbara Ganley's Open View Gardens

I’ve had the great pleasure to know & follow the inspiring work of Barbara Ganley over the past few years. Barbara came to UBC to do a take 3 years ago as part of a lecture series organized out of the office I work in. At the time, she was leaving academia (she had been a university literature instructor) & was heading into community development through storytelling work at the local level.

Barbara is a self-described “slow blogger” – a thoughtful writer who takes the time to turn an object round in her hand until she’s seen all sides. To my mind, slow blogging could be a reaction to immediacy, an effort to sloooooow things down, to look beyond the 140 characters of the Twittersphere and the fleeting intimacy of Facebook. Now, Barbara’s work has evolved again to embrace her love of growth and food. She’s started a new blogging/writing project called “Open View Gardens” which captures juicy stories, unforgettable recipes, and delicious photos from her own garden.

Check out her site and stay awhile. Slow down and savour the cornucopia, it’s worth it!
