Think about it…Many of us are growing accustomed to pondering our ecological footprint in the context of how often do you drive a car or fly on a plane, how much meat do you consume or plastic do you throw out. But, have we thought about our digital footprint? Well, some students did.
UBC grad students at the School of Journalism recently won an Emmy award for their work uncovering the story of what happens to the 1st world’s electronic and digital waste. This story is not just about what happens to all the data you think you’ve disposed of safely but reveals what impact your waste has on the health of the people and environment where it’s dumped.
