One of my fave vendors at the Vancouver Farmer’s Market is offering 3-month paid apprenticeships on their farm. Klipper’s Organics is a family farm located in the Similkameen Valley…one of my cherished places on this planet. They have implemented the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model and also engage in WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) and offer volunteer opportunities.
Ok, now that I’ve done all of this investigating, I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t set a plan in motion to realize my dream of working on an organic farm. I could do a summer placement. I have to say though that I’m a little intimidated by the thought of working on a farm. Will I be able to keep up? Has the urban lifestyle completely wiped out my food growing, rural beginnings with my family in small-town Ontario & Nova Scotia? I see that I could even begin by volunteering with Klipper’s at the Vancouver Farmer’s Market.
