Source: CDBaby CDBaby pushes out regular posts to subscribers called “DIY Musician.” The articles are full of great ideas from folks who are slogging away as indie artists. One that caught my attention recently was on a concept the writer, Chris R., calls “3P” – a sensible way to break down the recording of a full-length project into more manageable chunks. Chris R. suggests recording 3 songs every 3 months rather than tackling a time-consuming and expensive 10-12 song studio recording all at once. He also suggests that, in the age of digital downloads, you could also release a project 3 songs at a time.
Makes complete sense to me, I don’t know why I didn’t think about it before! I do always struggle with maintaining a balance between my artistic and work lives…the 3P approach gives me a realistic & achievable way to make the music happen. Cool huh?
