About the song and the video…
I’m excited to share ‘Vanishing of Bees’ with you!
The song was originally released in May 2019 on World Bee Day as a fundraiser for the David Suzuki Foundation’s Butterflyway Project. This project supports the protection and sustainment of key pollinator habitat.
I’m re-releasing the single with a live video in honour of World Bee Day 2021 (May 20th). All Bandcamp sales of this single will be donated to the David Suzuki Foundation and I’d love your support of this important campaign.
Musically, the song features my signature jangly guitars, as well as the bee-like droning and buzzing of the Scott Fletcher’s banjitar. The drums & bass were fashioned as an homage to Childish Gambino’s ‘Feels Like Summer,’ a song quite similar in theme. I sent the song to Tony and Aaron as a sample of what I was looking for, and this is the great beat they came up with!
